Painting HOLIDAY in belgium
A Creative Weekend in the Countryside near Namur
Would you like to escape the daily rush and reconnect with your creative self?
Then come and spend a relaxing painting weekend in my studio. Located in the rolling countryside near the city of Namur – often called the ‘Gateway to the Ardennes’ – this painting workshop is perfect for those seeking peace, connection, and the chance to discover the wonderful world of oil painting.
A Note from Your Host
My name is Wine and I have been painting since 2023. I am originally from Flanders and moved to this quiet corner of Wallonia after ten years in the UK, and an all-consuming burnout. Searching for a quieter life and a connection with nature, I found my home among the rolling green hills and vineyards near Namur. Together with my partner, we bought an old farmhouse with a sprawling garden where life moves at a slower pace.
Today’s world is fast and demanding. We are all looking for ways to step away from the madness of modern life. I would love to share my inspiring home and my passion for art with you during this creative retreat, which, thanks to its serene setting, feels like a complete painting holiday.
What to expect from this painting retreat?
This retreat is an accessible, small-group workshop (maximum 6 people) where your personal creative process takes center stage.
Your Subject, Your Choice: You are free to choose your own theme, whether it is a landscape, a still life, or an abstract study.
The Portrait Specialty: While all subjects are welcome, my personal specialty and passion lie in portraiture. If you have always wanted to learn how to capture a face in oils, I am happy to guide you through my specific techniques for skin tones, proportions, and expression.
Guidance for All Levels: Whether you are holding a brush for the first time or you are a seasoned painter looking for fresh inspiration, I provide personalized guidance tailored to your level, and I share a number of live demonstrations. We focus primarily on the “painterly” process—color, light, and atmosphere.
The Setting: We will paint in my studio (above) or, if the weather allows, en plein air in the garden (top and bottom photo)
Workshop Schedule: To keep the energy inspired and relaxed, we work in half-day sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. This leaves your afternoons free to explore the beautiful Namur region. Visit the historic Citadel of Namur, enjoy a long lunch at a local brasserie, or wander through the nearby vineyards for a tasting. (Note: afternoon activities are self-guided and not included in the workshop price).
New to (oil) painting? Don't worry.
I believe painting is not so much about talent, but much more about skill. We don’t expect doctors or programmers to be born with all their skills fully developed, so why expect that of yourself as an artist? I focus on your personal growth, no matter where you are in your journey. Follow the link to learn more about my own journey and my teaching philosophy.
